Introduction

A previous residence of the King's horseman, the 15th century Château de Beau Chêne is set on a beautiful and spectacular 45 acre estate which also includes considerable features of historic importance.

Discover our private woodlands, vineyard, orchard and fresh water moat. The Charente River gently meanders along the border of the estate on its way to the world renowned and much celebrated Cognac vineyards.

The Estate

If you prefer the quiet life, enjoy a swim in the large above ground pool which is situated within the fortified château courtyard or take a stroll through the pine tree forest, walking through the woodlands down to the Charente River where you may fish with a permit, pick some apples, pears, cherries or peaches from the orchard.

Other interesting features on the grand estate are the spring fed lavoir where clothes were washed in days gone by (but do not worry washing machines are provided in the cottages), an original well, working bread oven and étang / moat which once surrounded the property.

You may also be pleased to know that Poitou-Charente is the second sunniest region of France and Château de Beau Chêne is situated in the beautiful rural countryside of this lovely region. The Château is also within driving distance of the historical towns and cities of Confolens, Poitiers, Angoulême, Limoges and La Rochelle.

Château de Beau Chêne has recently changed ownership and is now under the administration of an experienced and enthusiastic new management team.

Our history… we are three ex-pats from Northern Ireland who have several years experience within the tourist trade, thus helping us to understand the needs of both our clients and those of the local community.

We are fully committed to ensuring the history and character of the chateau are maintained to the highest of standards while expanding and enhancing the estate through a detailed number of future development plans.

Our aim is to preserve the chateau and the surrounding countryside for future generations and through our passion and dedication we hope to play a successful role within the local community.
